what is breathwork

We’re so excited to welcome Lauren to the Scout crew! Lauren is a Certified Breathwork Facilitator & Clinical hypnotherapy with a degree in psychological science. She’s here to guide you through restorative breathwork a practice designed to calm the nervous system, clear the mind, and leave you feeling lighter than ever.

We asked Lauren to share a little about her journey, the benefits of breathwork, and what to expect in her new Scout Breathwork classes.

Lauren, what drew you to breathwork?

For years I didn’t realise I was living in constant fight-or-flight. Stress was my normal. I thought pushing through was the only option - until I discovered conscious breathing. Suddenly, I realised how much my body had been holding on to. Restorative Breathwork became my reset button.

Now, every week I dedicate an hour to my own practice - breathing, softening, letting go. It restores my energy, calms my mind, and keeps me aligned with what really matters. Guiding others through this work is my way of sharing the practice that has changed my life!

What are the benefits of restorative breathwork?

Think of it as a one-hour reset for your whole system. Through a guided sequence of calming and activating techniques, you’ll tap into your parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s natural “rest and digest” states. The benefits then ripple through:

  • Muscles finally release built-up tension
  • Your mind clears and slows down
  • Mood feels lighter and more balanced
  • Sleep and recovery improve

This isn’t just relaxation - it’s your body remembering how to heal and reset itself.

What can we expect in your breathwork classes?

Expect one hour of guided breathwork that takes you on a journey:

  • Active breathing with faster-paced music to energise and open the body.
  • Breath holds that create space for stillness, insight, and deep release.
  • Restorative breathing patterns and softer music to ground and integrate.
  • A guided meditation at the end, to seal in the calm and clarity.
  • Optional grounding touch and aromatherapy, to help you feel even more anchored and nourished.

It’s a blend of science-backed activation and restoration. Most people leave feeling like they’ve hit refresh on their entire system.

Breathwork with Lauren is now running across all Scout Studios.
The perfect addition to your weekly wellness routine. Check the timetable and come try it out!
